Val's Cafe was funded by the Department of Social Services to work in partnership with Carers Australia to document the experiences and needs of older LGBTI carers and the carers of older LGBTI people. Interviews and a survey form the basis of a resource that includes stories from carers and a guide to LGBTI inclusive services for carers. Click here for the full report.
In 2014 Val's Café together with ACAS (Aged Care Assessment Services) Victoria conducted education for ACAS services and through these workshops developed a set of guide sheets to provide assessment practitioners with knowledge around the needs and experiences of older LGBTI people accessing services. Eleven guide sheets were developed through the workshops. While these were developed for use by assessment services, these can also be utilised to provide information on LGBTI inclusive service delivery to health and human services providers.
